Assignment: Choose a paper using indirect gradient analysis, and present it to the class during the field trip. Work in groups if possible. Make 10 copies of the citation, plus whatever diagram(s) you wish to discuss. Mention why the authors are using the techniques, and how they are interpreting the results.
Indirect gradient analysis includes PCA, Polar ordination, MDS, NMDS, CA, Reciprocal Averaging, and DCA.
You can choose any published paper you like as long as:
The analysis is a true gradient analysis of ecological
communities
The variables are species abundances (or presence/absence)
You do not personally know any of the authors.
It would be much better if you chose a case study, rather than a methodological paper.
The following might help.
